I read with interest the article, ‘Are we being milked’ by Sonia de Villiers on www.travelwrite.co.za. I’m sure by now you have read the article and are well aware of the allegations being made against you.
I understand you’re probably up to your eyeballs in anti-Israel protests and see you have taken the time to respond to South Africans’ very strong views on this issue, but as a valued customer I would like to know where you stand on the allegations put forward in de Villiers’ piece regarding the treatment of your dairy cows.
Just as some sectors of our society feel very strongly about you sourcing products a million miles away from Israel, some of us feel equally strongly about your agricultural practices that are going on right here in our own back yard.
As an ethical brand, I would have guessed that you would have quickly reverted substantiating your position on the humane treatment of your animals. Yet that appears to not be forthcoming?
I ONLY buy my dairy products from Woolies because I believe your dairy cows are free range, treated ethically and your dairy product labels are honest and fact-based, as you would have us all believe.
From this article it appears you may be leading me and my family (and thousands others) down the garden path with marketing bull that hides the truth behind your local agricultural practices?
Please be so kind as to revert with your position on this issue, to me as your customer and to the forum hosting the article in question.
Yours,
A valued Woolworths customer (for many, many years),
Bronwyn
